Twisted Mountain Animation had the opportunity to partner with Disney's Real-Time Development team to help create "Big City Greens: Virtually Christmas." This Christmas special for Disney+ was a 3D adaptation of a well-known 2D series, employing cutting-edge technology and innovative methods. This was the first Unreal Engine episodic piece created by Disney and the longest single animation episode they've largely produced utilizing real-time technology.
We were lucky to have played a major part in creating these amazing characters, props, and environments. Each frame of "Virtually Christmas" is loaded with gorgeous sights and engrossing moments thanks to the visual development, modeling, surfacing, rigging, lighting, and technical expertise of our team. Staying true to the artwork and design of the original 2D series was no small feat, yet the outcome proved to be truly remarkable.

Barcelona-based design agency Playful created Magna Mater. Written and directed by Playful creative director and creator Pablo Alfeiri, Manga Mater is a ritualistic film that celebrates the wonders of Mother Nature and her relationship with human beings. Cosmo, the bold and beautiful character was 100% computer generated.
Twisted Mountain Animation brought our expertise in rigging, mocap, and animation to the project. We created a full featured character rig that was mocap ready. The majority of the actions in the film were recorded mocap. Our custom pipeline tools allowed our animation team to quickly handle the mocap transfer onto Maya control rigs, as well as the mocap data cleanup. Our animation team also hand-keyed the non-mocap shots. Once animation was complete, our pipeline tooling published the animations as alembic caches and delivered them to Playful to simulate the clothing and produce the final renders.
